US 66 touches Kansas only briefly. Here it runs through the communities Galena, Baxter Springs and Riverton.. There were and still are places to rest your weary head here but unfortunately I have no postcards of motels along this stretch of the highway.

In stead I thought I’d show you a card of the former Katy Train Depot in Galena. When we visited here in 1993 it housed the Galena Mining and Historical Museum and we spent a few fun hours with Mr. Howard Litch.
