At least two places to stay in Miami :

 

            Riviera Courts , owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Janson is depicted on this linen card.

 

            The Thunderbird Motel, half mile west of the turnpike gate. Nice panoramic artist impression.

 

            In Afton, on Grand Lake o’ the Cherokees, we find Shangri-La, a luxury resort.

 

                       

                                    Vinita is the home of the quiet and comfortable 66 Court at 449 S. Wilson. 12 all-modern cottages on this linen card that was stamped in

1951

 

 

Tulsa is a city were we encounter some great places to rest your weary head, whether it took you 24 hours to get here or not :

 

            Oasis Motel at 9303 E. 11th Street (or Business 66 East). Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Walter were your hosts here.

 

            The Ramada Inn at 4528 E. Skelly Drive.

 

            Two images for the Valley Inn Motel and Restaurant at 1347 E. Skelly Drive (US 66 and I-44) .

This claimed to be Tulsa’s futuristic look at roadside living.

 

            Three cards of the Will Rogers Motor Court. The first two are linens, the second of which is dated 1957.

The third card shows the great neon sign at night.

 

            Winston Motor Court and Restaurant at US 66 and 75.An artist impression of this motel.

 

                                               

In Sapulpa we find the Redwood Manor Courts. J.E. and R.J. Van Landingham (sounds Dutch somehow !) ran this place. This linen card was stamped in 1957.

 

 

 

 

Several places to stay in Oklahoma City where Route 66 followed what is now US 77. Kelley Avenue and on to Lincoln Boulevard (US 77 again). 23rd Street, Classen Boulevard, 39th Street to I-44. I list the motels alphabetically :

 

            The Boyer Hotel Court at 5120 NW 39th Street had a restaurant and service station to offer as well.

Great architecture on this linen card !

 

                                   

Classen Inn Motel at 820 N. Classen. Mr. and Mrs. Joe F. Roark managed this property that offered commercial rates to regular customers.

 

 

 

 

            Two images for the Clock Inn Motel on the 66 by-pass. The motto was : “As we travel through life

let us live by the way”. First card is stamped in 1957.

 

            Flamingo Motel at 3312 North Lincoln. A great neon sign !

 

            Guest House Motel at 5200 Classen Boulevard. This card was stamped in 1963

 

            An artist impression of the Holiday Inn Hotel at 12001 NE Urban Expressway (or US 66 and 77 !)

 

            Two images for the Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge at 5301 North Lincoln Boulevard.

 

            The Lakeview Motel with it’s mission style buildings is depicted in this linen card. 22 units with kitchenettes and garages !

 

            Two wonderful linen cards of the Park-O-Tell on highways 66 and 77.

 

            Sauna Motel at 11901 NE Expressway, 1 mile west of the Turner Turnpike.

 

            Wilshire Motel. A panoramic view of ‘a stop to remember’.

 

            In Yukon (on the west edge of Oklahoma City) we find the Chateau Inn Motel and Restaurant. Luxury rooms here.

 

               One card mentions El Reno in the address, the other one Calumet (16 miles west of El Reno).

Both cards are for the Cherokee Motor Inn, close to the Canadian River.

 

            The Ranger Motel on the East side of town had free TV and baby cribs available.

 

            in Weatherford we find the Mark Motor Hotel and Restaurant

 

            Two images for the TraveLodge in Clinton. Located at 1015 Gary Freeway, also known as Choctaw Avenue (now

                                                            Business I-40) .First card was stamped in 1973.

 

Last stop for us in Oklahoma is in Elk City.

 

            Ramada Inn on Route 1.

 

            Sands Motel was owned and managed by Jack and Barbara Smith. Early sixties cars in the sun !
