In Shamrock
we find two motels waiting for us :
The
“home away from home”. When Helen
and Carrol Williams owned and managed it in the second image it was
“easy to find – hard to leave”.
Two images of the Sun ‘n’ Sand Motor Inn
(and Maverick Restaurant) owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Chester
Glancy
Jr. (So it says on the second card) The first card was stamped in 1961, the
second one in 1966. Some heavy remodeling must have been done between these two
cards.
Two images too of the
Golden Spread Motel in Groom. The first card was
stamped in 1957 and was sent to a Dutch
address.
In Amarillo we
have a great choice in where to spend the night. Listed alphabetically again :
The Arrow
Courts, owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. O.E. Allen. Looks
like they sold gas as well.
At the Circle and home of the Chuck
Wagon Spread was the Broncho Lodge. This card was stamped in 1971.
New Franciscan furniture awaited you

At 410 N. Fillmore we find the Elite Motel. Some cozy
rooms on this multi-view card and look at that old 66 sign in front of the
building.
Two different images
for the Farrell Manor (Motel). It was
either at the 66 by-pass at Polk and NW 8th (card 1) or
Grande
Tourist Courts, 68 units and 24 hour maid
and porter service for a reasonable rate. Linen card.
The Graycourt
Tourist Lodge informs us that
They were at

Holiday Inn Midtown at
A Holiday Inn Motel. I
have double checked this card and that is what it said on the back. I agree
that when you look at the sign it is more obvious that it would be a Hotel.
Anyway, great looking gals in the pool !
Longhorn Lodge
Motel.
This linen card was stamped in 1959. Great sign with that large horse shoe.
The Model
Motel was luxuriously furnished. The
previous owner of this card stayed here in 1956 and 1959.
Was the Overnite Trailer Inn a
place where you could rent a room too ? The name led
me to believe so.
Two images for the Palo Duro Motel

Another nice
example of a Park Plaza Motel, this one at
On the west side of town, south of
